Pilgrimage is a living pratice in Bhutan. Going to be present in the sacred places - caves, monasteries, lakes, springs and more is very alive and well: familes go on weekends and on holy days, people are sure to stop at sacred sites while traveling across the country, others can be seen along the roads prostrating towards sacred destinations...

We join this place practice with our whole journey here. We always begin by taking the pilgrimage to Taksang, the famous monastery in the Paro Valley. We also return to Taksang at the end of our time in Bhutan to mark our entire stay here as a pilgrimage of inner and outer learning.  Taksang is where the founder of Naropa University did a retreat, finding vision and courage to embrace in the modern world after being exiled from Tibet, writing the beautiful Sadhana Mahamudra.

And throughout our time we encounter the sacred land in our oriention travels and in our valleys.
